A concrete scan reveals any hazards within a concrete structure.
When cutting, demolishing or repairing concrete the information identified in a concrete scan report will help ensure the safety of your workers and equipment.
You might be wondering what are these hazards? This post will explain why concrete scanning services are so important.
So what is concrete scanning? Concrete scanning is like an x-ray on concrete… the method is called ground penetrating radar (GPR). How it works is that a machine sends radio waves through a surface. The radio waves bounce back to the machine and are recorded. They come back at different times depending on if they came across any anomalies and then the machine creates an image based on this process, and that is how hazards are located in the concrete.
What does it reveal? GPR concrete scanning reveals many things, such as:
- Concrete slab thickness measurement
- Post tension cables
- Conduits
- Structural steel
- Locating reinforcement bars
We then run a Radiodetection wand to search for LIVE power and mark out accordingly to make sur this is cleared from any cutting and coring.
We provide a detailed report with photos that helps you avoid all these type of incidents.
